Tupac Hologram May Be at a CONCERT NEAR YOU SOON

Tupac Hologram May Be at a CONCERT NEAR YOU SOON

Tupac Hologram

There was no doubt that the Tupac hologram was, for the most part a major hit, with the exception of those that said it was borderline creepy.  With that in mind, the technology used to create the Hologram was short of amazing.  The company who created the hologram says it was no easy feat.  The Wall Street Journal did an in depth report about the company and technology used to make "Tupac" which will make you appreciate the process even more.  WSJ Reports:

The biggest buzz at Sunday's Coachella music festival in California wasn't for a hot new DJ or indie-rock band. It was for Tupac Shakur, the rapper who died more than 15 years ago and "performed" Sunday night alongside Snoop Dogg and producer Dr. Dre.

Internet video of the Sunday evening show became an instant sensation on Monday morning. That response is helping push the possibility of a virtual Tupac tour in coming months.

The rapper's ghostly image was created by Digital Domain Media Group Inc.,DDMG +16.50% the visual-effects house responsible for making the virtual versions of Brad Pitt that populated 2008's "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button." The movie won the Oscar for visual effects.

Representatives for Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg plan to discuss logistics for a tour involving the two performers and the virtual Tupac, according to a person familiar with the discussions.

One option would be a tour in stadiums, involving other hip-hop stars, including Eminem, 50 Cent and Wiz Khalifa. Alternately, they could stage a more limited tour, featuring only Dre, Snoop Dogg and the virtual Tupac, in smaller arenas.

Digital Domain is a publicly traded company that reported revenue last year of $98.6 million. The thinly-traded company has a market capitalization of $211 million. Its stock is down 15% year-to-date.

"To create a completely synthetic human being is the most complicated thing that can be done," Digital Domain's chief creative officer, Ed Ulbrich, said in a phone interview Monday.

He said that the performances of the rapper's hits "Hail Mary" and "2 of Amerikaz Most Wanted" weren't simply old ones captured on film and repurposed: "This is not found footage. This is not archival footage. This is an illusion."

"This is just the beginning," Mr. Ulbrich said. "Dre has a massive vision for this."

Spokeswomen for Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg declined to comment.

Mr. Shakur was shot to death in Las Vegas in 1996, at age 25. Because the shooting has never been solved by authorities, it has become grist for conspiracy theories akin to the "Elvis lives" rumors a generation earlier.

Dr. Dre and his production team first approached Digital Domain a year ago to discuss the possibility of creating a virtual Tupac. They began work in earnest on the Coachella performance around four months ago.

First, the image was created on a computer, using physical characteristics and movements captured from recorded performances.

Advances in computer graphics and video projection allowed Sunday night's illusion to be far more lifelike than other recent efforts.

For the projection aspect, a San Diego company called AV Concepts used a variation of a visual effect that was discovered in the 19th century, known as Pepper's Ghost.

Though the projected image has been widely described as a "hologram," it is a 2-D image and not a hologram, which is 3-D.

The effect was first used in an 1862 dramatization of Charles Dickens' novella "The Haunted Man and the Ghost's Bargain," staged at the Royal Polytechnic Institute in London, according to Jim Steinmeyer, an illusion designer who has written extensively about the history of his craft, including Pepper's Ghost.

The effect relies on an angled piece of glass in which a "ghostly" image is reflected. "A piece of glass can be both transparent and reflective at the same time, depending on how it's situated relative to the audience," said Mr. Steinmeyer, pointing out the secret.

In the Victorian version of the trick, the glass reflected an actual actor, situated out of sight in near the orchestra. On Sunday night, the image was projected on a piece of Mylar—a highly reflective, lightweight plastic—stretched on a clear frame.

"What's happening in Coachella is virtually the same thing that was happening in 1862," Mr. Steinmeyer said. One difference: In the Victorian era, Pepper's Ghost was normally used to reflect actual, physical objects or actors, making them appear "dimensional" in ways that the projected or computer-generated imagery typically used today do not.

Mr. Steinmeyer used similar technology to create an illusion in which Frank Sinatra appeared at a 2003 concert.

A London-based company called Musion Systems Ltd. owns the patent for using a Mylar screen in the illusion. Musion said it licenses its technology to around 30 companies around the world, including AV Concepts. Its technology was also used for the 2006 Grammy Awards, when an animated rock band called the Gorillaz appeared to perform live on stage with Madonna.

AV Concepts President Nick Smith says that his company typically uses the technology for corporate events.

Tupac Shakur is the first dead entertainer the company has presented "live."

But Mr. Smith said the company has used the same technology to resurrect several late executives.

"We've brought past CEOs and things that like that back to life," Mr. Smith said, without getting more specific, citing non-disclosure agreements.

A tour with the virtual Tupac is likely but not guaranteed, said the person familiar with the situation. The nascent plans could fall apart for any number of reasons.

If the tour were to proceed, it would take many months of creative and technical planning, this person added.

A version of this article appeared April 17, 2012, on page B1 in some U.S. editions of The Wall Street Journal, with the headline: Rapper's De-Light: Tupac 'Hologram' May Go on Tour.

Is The Bachelor Bachelorette RACIST?

Is The Bachelor Bachelorette RACIST?

Two of ABC's most popular franchises "The Bachelor" and "The Bachelorette" should be anticipating a class-action lawsuit based on racial discrimination.  In the shows 23 seasons, there have never been any minority bachelors or bachelorettes leading to questions of racism.  TMZ reports:

We're told the 2 plaintiffs — both African Americans — went to a Nashville hotel to audition for the role of bachelor. Christopher Johnson — an aspiring NFL player — claims when he arrived a producer asked him what he was doing there.

Johnson and the other plaintiff, Nathaniel Claybrooks, both say they were taken to the side of the room and left out of the normal audition process. Neither was called back, and they believe it's because of their race.

They will be filing a class action lawsuit in federal court Wednesday AM. We're told ABC, Warner Horizon Television, Next Entertainment, NZK Productions and creator Mike Fleiss, will all be sued.

Rihanna Smitten With Tupac: THUG LIFE

Rihanna Smitten With Tupac: THUG LIFE

It's no secret Rihanna has a "thing" for the late Rapper Tupac.  She already previously tweeted earlier this year, a photo of "Thug Life" written on her knuckles, her way of paying tribute to the slain rapper.  "Thug Life" is the famous tattoo the late rapper had tattooed across his abdominal.  After the performance on Sunday of Snoop Dogg and "The Hologram Tupac", RiRi was so impressed with the show she paid homage to the late rapper again by having "Thug Life" written across her stomach.  Snoop tweeted a photo with her, Snoop Dogg & Warren G showing "Thug Life" on her tummy in marker.

Tupac has been deceased for almost 16 years and still manages to be as influential if not more influential as he was then.  He was shot 4 times in 1996 and his murder to this day remains "unsolved."  After the show at Coachella 2012, Rihanna took to her twitter account and wrote:

The pop superstar wrote: "#TupacBACK #unbelievable #IWASTHERE #STORY4myGrandKidz' and added, 'This turned out to be one of the best nights of my life #BuffaloSoldier #ThugLife #EPIC."

Warren Buffet Has Announced He Has Stage I Prostate Cancer

Warren Buffet Has Announced He Has Stage I Prostate Cancer

Breaking News:  81-year-old Warren Buffet, best known as probably the world's best and richest billionaire income investor just announced he has Stage 1 Prostate Cancer.  In a statement to the shareholders of Berkshire Hathaway, the company in which he founded, Berkshire wrote:

BERKSHIRE HATHAWAY INC. NEWS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE    April 17, 2012

Omaha, NE (BRK.A; BRK.B)

To the Shareholders of Berkshire Hathaway:

This is to let you know that I have been diagnosed with stage I prostate cancer. The good news is that I’ve been told by my doctors that my condition is not remotely life- threatening or even debilitating in any meaningful way. I received my diagnosis last Wednesday. I then had a CAT scan and a bone scan on Thursday, followed by an MRI today. These tests showed no incidence of cancer elsewhere in my body.

My doctors and I have decided on a two-month treatment of daily radiation to begin in mid-July. This regimen will restrict my travel during that period, but will not otherwise change my daily routine.
I feel great – as if I were in my normal excellent health – and my energy level is 100 percent. I discovered the cancer because my PSA level (an indicator my doctors had regularly checked for many years) recently jumped beyond its normal elevation and a biopsy seemed warranted.

I will let shareholders know immediately should my health situation change. Eventually, of course, it will; but I believe that day is a long way off.
Warren E. Buffett

The best part right now is the diagnosis is "remotely life-threatening".  Wishing him the best!

Kim Kardashian: Mayor of Glendale in Five Years?

Kim Kardashian: Mayor of Glendale in Five Years?

Kim Kardashian made a shocking revelation on this past Sunday's episode of Khloe & Lamar.  She revealed she wants to run for mayor in a few years.  In the clip, Kim and Khloe begin to talk about politics as they drive pass the Ross Perot Museum in Dallas, TX.  Kim says:

"I decided I'm going to run for the mayor of Glendale," Kim says, adding that she and a friend are “looking into all of the requirements.” Kim picked the California city because of its large Armenian population."

She can't make a run now due to residency issues.  Turns out Glendale is run by a council of 5 people who take turns being mayor.   Who knows if it is a joke or if she is serious, but only time will tell!

Update: TMZ reports Kim has backing for her becoming mayor.

But now … several prominent Armenians in Glendale are backing Kim. Former Mayor and current City Councilman Ara Najarian offered to make Kim his Chief of Staff to teach her local politics. What's more … Artin Sarkissian — a prominent Glendale realtor — has offered to find Kim a home in Glendale.

So our Kim sources tell us KK can't believe the response she's getting and she's "seriously considering" buying a house in Glendale and taking Councilman Najarian up on his offer.

The only thing is — Kim must run for City Council before she's eligible to become Mayor. Members of the City Council rotate into the position of Mayor — and one thing Kim is good at … rotating.

Bringin More Payne to Tyler Perry: INTERVIEW WITH INTERNATIONAL MODEL ACTOR BILLY PAYNE

Bringin More Payne to Tyler Perry: INTERVIEW WITH INTERNATIONAL MODEL ACTOR BILLY PAYNE

If someone was asked to imagine what the perfect male model would be, Billy Payne would most likely come to mind.  With a body built like a "Greek God" and eyes that would make even the most shy girl blush, Billy is the epitome of what a male supermodel is and should be.  Billy has modeled for several major brands and is currently taping for Tyler Perry's "For Better or Worse" as "Dr. Frank".  Taking the modeling & acting world by storm, International Model Billy Payne took time out of his busy schedule to do an interview with My Fabulous Style.

BIO:  Billy Payne is a professional Actor and International Model. He was born in Indianapolis, IN. and attended Morehouse College where he double majored in Business Management and Music. In his career he has been featured in many magazines. Walked the runways from Milano to NY, and has been on billboards across America for client's such as Coca-Cola and AKOO. He recently had a fantastic run in a play in NY, and has 8 commercials to add to his list of achievements. Billy now divides his time between NY and Atlanta, and is working hard on taking the acting world by storm!

1)   Who is Billy Payne?

I'm a mixed preacher's son from Indiana, who loves pit bulls and takes a pretty good picture every now and then, lol!!  I know that was a simple answer, but that's because I'm pretty simple and easy going.

2)   When did you start modeling and why did you decide to become a model?

I started modeling around the age of 7. My mom got me involved in local shows and print jobs. I backed away from it while in high school to focus on college. While in college I ventured back into it to make money on the side. And the rest is history.

3)   What is a typical day in the life of a male top model?

A typical day would consist of getting some type of work out in. Check and respond to emails. Get your go see's from your agency. Head out and book as many jobs as possible in that day. Then head to your photo shoot or shoot's that you have booked for that day. Don't forget to try to fit in lunch, if you can, lol!!! Check back in with your agency. Meet up with friends for drinks/dinner. Head home. Check emails again. Watch a little t.v. Check to see what Angie Michelle has been up to ;) Go to bed, then wake up and do it all over again. I think that about cover's it ;)

4)   What is the most rewarding moment you have had as a model?

That's an easy one! It would have to be the first time I got the call from my parents that someone in another city had seen me on a billboard. The pure joy and excitement that penetrated through the phone lines was overwhelming. I think it was the first time that my dad actually took my career seriously. Before that. I think he looked at it as more of a hobby of mine. That moment changed a lot for me personally.

5)   Who are some brands you have worked for?

Ummm… Brands I have worked for? There's Coca~Cola, AKOO, Smirnoff, Ford, KFC, Sean John, HugoBoss, VIBE Magazine, Luster's Pink Oil, NY Fashion Week, and the Georgia Lottery to name a few. I act as well, and I've been fortunate to have 8 commercials under my belt. So some of the previously mentioned are clients not brands. Wouldn't want to confuse anyone…

6.) How do you balance your life and your modeling career?

With A LOT OF HELP!!!! I'm blessed to have some really good people around me. From family to management. They do everything from keeping me grounded and on track, to walking my dogs and getting my mail while I'm out out of town working. And that's even when I'm gone for months at a time. However, it takes a concentrated effort on my part as well. You can easily get wrapped up in "your" world, that you forget those that put you in that position. I NEVER want to do that! Thank you family and friends!!!

7)   What is the best attribute that contributes to your modeling career?

LOL!!!! I would say one thing, but most would say my eyes. But outside of features, I would have to say my work ethic. I take what I do very seriously. It's my passion. It's my craft. And I think that's what people see IN my eyes, that comes through in my work. Not just their color.

8)   What advice would you give any aspiring models?

Be as educated as you can on anything that you attach yourself to!!! When you know better, you DO better. NEVER put all of your eggs in one basket. And it's not always what you know, but who you know… All 4 of these principles can be applied to all aspects of life. Not just modeling! Always be good to YOU!
