Gabby Douglas: Gold Medal & Kellogg’s New Face

Gabby Douglas: Gold Medal & Kellogg's New Face

Gold Medalist Gabby Douglas

What a difference a week makes.  Gabby Douglas came into this year's 2012 Olypics a virtual unknown and has emerged as the new face of U.S. Women's Gymnastic and a household name all in a matter of a week.  At the tender age of 16, Gabby has accomplished more in her short life, than most will in two lifetimes.  Gabby contributed to the U.S. Women's team Gold Medal win on Tuesday and on Thursday winning gold in the women's all-around.

Gabby has a Cinderella story.  She had to leave her family two years ago, to train with her coach and make a move to Iowa, which was clear across the country from where she resided.  She lived with a "host family", who she became very close with.  She was very homesick, but knew this one one of many sacrifies she had to make to get to the next level.  Her mom has said it was a difficult decision to allow her to go.  Aptly name "The Squirrel", because of how high she flies on the uneven bars.  As a matter-of-fact. Gabby is best known for the height she gets when performing on the uneven bars.  She was the only member of the U.S. women's gymnastic team to participate in vault, the uneven bars, the floor exercise, and balance beam on Tuesday and led the entire time in the individual all-around competition on Thursday.  Not only has she won two gold medals so far, but she also became the first African-American to win the individual all-around and the first American to ever to win both the team and individual all-around gold at the same Olympics.

She has officially become the new face of Kellogg's, which will make its debut in stores starting in September.  She is scheduled to participate in finals on the uneven bars and balance beam.  This is one of many endorsement that are sure to follow the young teen, which will instantly make her a multi-millionaire.  Even if she makes the things she do look effortless, she has no doubt put in many, many hours of training and work over the years to get to this point.  Get used to seeing this face more in the future.  Congrats to Gabby from My Fabulous Style.
