Aaliyah: Fabulous Style Influence
Some people described her as sweet, beautiful,and stylish. No matter what you describe her as, she left an impression on this world many will never forget. It is hard to believe it has been almost 10 1/2 years since that ill-fated day that Aaliyah was taken away from the world. Just on the horizon of her career going main-stream, Aaliyah died in a tragic plane accident on August 25, 2001. Since then, she has been remebered for her sultry voice, charismatic style, and tom-boyish wit. With all the tragedy that surrounded her death, we wanted to take a look at her life. With that, we wanted to focus on her style and how it impacts the celebs even today.
When she first hit the scene, she had a sexy, yet tom-boyish look. Even though she was a beautiful girl, she showed a sass and boyish style that people were mesmerized by. Her style was sophisticated, chic, and sexy. She loved to wear Tommy-Hilfiger jeans and mid-drifts. It quickly caught onwith other young girls who began sporting the Tommy logo everywhere they went. The sexy mid-driff and baggy Tommy jeans had people running to the Tommy store.
Aaliyah was always known for her layered tresses that swayed over one eye. It became known as the "Aaliyah style". The bang over the eye was the biggest part of the "Aaliyah style". It added a bit of a mystery to who she was and always made you wander more about her. Many celebrities still copy this style today.
As Aaliyah got older and her style progressed, she became more sultry and some said seductive. The shy Aaliyah we had grown accustomed to somehow dissappeared and this new woman was on the horizon. This was the "New Grown-Up Aaliyah. She took more bold moves,lost the baggy jeans and began to dress more like a sophisticated lady mixing colors, dresses and her own new style She mixed bandanas, deep red lip-stick, sultry curls, sunglasses and an array of other fashions to make what has become an imprint on R & B and Pop fashion today. Gone were those "tom-boyish" days! To some she is considered a fashion icon. It is amazing to think where she would be today. Her style, her elegance and her grace are grealty missed and we will never have another like her. May she rest in peace.
