Dealing with long days of kids, working, and tackling the everyday stress of life can be a handful. There is so much to do and so little time to take care of yourself. All work and no you time can cause large amounts of stress and anxiety. Yoga to reduce stress is a great way to start de-stressing your body. You can start with some very simple poses to get started.
You may be able to deal with a crazy day even better by striking a pose. Try doing one of these yoga tricks before you step one foot out of bed.
1. Before getting out of bed, remain lying on your back. Then bend your knees so that your feet are flat and wide apart. Let your knees fall in until they touch. Then place your palms together and press your thumbs between your eyebrows. Hold the pose for at least one minute.
2. When you wake, sit up in an Indian style position. Let your arms rest on your knees. Take both hands and bring your thumb and index finger together. Start breathing by inhaling through your nose on a 1-2-3-4 count, then exhale out of your mouth on a 1-2-3-4 count. Do this for at least one minute.
You can start de-stressing before your day begins by doing one or both of these simple yoga poses before getting out of bed. There are lots of ways to use yoga benefits to help with stress. You can even do these yoga poses before you go to bed. Start doing yoga slowly and work your way up to a level you and your body are comfortable with.
