Katie Holmes & Tom Cruise REACH DIVORCE SETTLEMENT

 

 

 

Katie Holmes & Tom Cruise have reached a divorce settlement.  Katie filed for divorce from Tom on June 29.  Their lawyers have been working over-time to work out on a tentative divorce agreement which they have just reached today.   Katie's lawyer issued a statement which reads:

 

"This case has been settled and the agreement has been signed.  We are thrilled for Katie and her family and are excited to watch as she embarks on the next chapter of her life."…. "We thank Tom's counsel for their professionalism and diligence that helped bring about this speedy resolution."

 

Their joint representative issued this statement:

"We are committed to working together as parents to accomplish what is in our daughter Suri's best interests."

"We want to keep matters affecting our family private and express our respect for each other's commitment to each of our respective beliefs and support each other's roles as parents." 

 

Update:  TMZ reports:

 

Here's what we know.



– Katie will have what amounts to primary physical custody, but Tom has significant custodial time with his daughter.



– A report claiming that Suri must be in the presence of Katie's bodyguard and nanny when she is around Tom is "absolutely, 100% false."



– The custodial provisions of the agreement are extremely detailed, and religion is one of the topics.  We're told there are restrictions on what Tom and Katie can discuss with Suri on the subject of religion, including Scientology, however, those restrictions are eased the older Suri gets.



In short, we're told the agreement is extremely detailed and outlines a course of conduct for years to come.

Katie Holmes: Happy Happy Joy Joy

 

 

 

Katie Holmes was seen out yesterday on her way to film a guest appearance on Project Runway in New York.  She was surrounded by paps and one thing Katie made sure sure to share was the fact that she is sans wedding ring and she is happy. Much has been made about why Katie filed for divorce, but the heart of it seems to be that she and Tom were at odds on how to raise Suri.  Tom is very committed to the Church, which has had its fair share of controversies.  Katie is said to have been worried about Suri being raised in the church's deep, questionable, and controversial religious tactics.

 

With all the news about the divorce going around, here are a few things that we know for sure:

Katie filed for divorce from Tom June 28, 2012 in New York asking for sole custody.  

Tom is currently in Iceland filming a movie.

Scientology will be a major part of this divorce.

The pair will be battling over custody of Suri.

Katie will be asking for a "substantial amount" of support for the care of Suri.
