Mary J Blige Charity OWES A FEW DOLLARS

Famed singer Mary J. Blige's charity has come under fire.  A bank claims they loaned the charity $250,000 dollars but has only gotten $400.00 back.  TMZ reports:

TMZ has learned … the Mary J. Blige and Steve Stoute Foundation for the Advancement of Women Now is being sued by TD Bank over a $250k loan it took out back in June 2011.

According to a suit filed earlier this month in New York, the foundation agreed to pay the money back by December 2011, but when the time came to collect … the org. had only put a $368.33 dent into the principal.

The bank claims it has demanded payment in writing on February 7 and 29, but hasn't heard back from the foundation.

This lawsuit isn't the only troubles with which the foundation is dealing. It didn't file a federal tax return for 2010 .. so says the NY Post, and it's also being sued by musicians from a 2011 fundraising gala who claim when it came time for payment they were stiffed.

A rep for Blige tells TMZ, "The Mary J. Blige and Steve Stoute Foundation For The Advancement Of Women Now, Inc. (FFAWN) is presently transitioning its management and headquarters."

The rep adds, "We remain committed to our mandate of helping  women gain the confidence and skills necessary to reach their full individual potential."

Update: Mary J. Blige tells TMZ:

"As Founder and CEO of FFAWN, I am ultimately responsible for anything that goes wrong. The problem is that I didn't have the right people in the right places doing the right things. This should have never been allowed to happen, but it did and now we are fixing it."

The singer says she's working tirelessly with a new team of experts to "get the Foundation back on track, rectify outstanding issues, and make good on all of FFAWN's obligations."

Mary J. Blige has been heavily criticized for a Burger King commercial that went viral in which she is singing excitedly about their new chicken wrap. Many African-Americans have said it is "stero-typical" about the association of African-Americans and chicken.  Burger King has since taken the video from YouTube and apologized to Mary J. Blige and anyone offended by the commercial.   Mary told TMZ:

“I agreed to be a part of a fun and creative campaign that was supposed to feature a dream sequence. Unfortunately, that's not what was happening in that clip."

Burger King has said the ad was released "before all of the licensing and final approvals were obtained.  They also added, "We would like to apologize to Mary J. and all of her fans for airing an ad that was not final."
