Obama Honors BCS Nat'l Champion U. Of Alabama At White House
This is becoming a tradition for Nick Saban and the Alabama Crimson Tide. The guys took a trip to D.C. to visit with the President and received glowing remarks from Obama on winning the BCS Championship. He also gave them praise for the work the coach, players, and staff did in the wake of the 2011 Tuscaloosa tornados.
Obama stated:
"Now, obviously this is a team that knows something about adversity." He continued,"It was one year ago next week that an F4 tornado carved a path right through the town of Tuscaloosa. I traveled down there two days later to see the devastation with the mayor and the governor. And I've got to tell you, I'd never seen anything like it."
Barrett Jones, offensive lineman for the Tide, gave the President a Crimson Tide Jersey with his name on it and an Alabama helmet. The Prez shook hands and greeted everyone and "Sweet Home Alabama" was played.
