The Movie Sparkle Headed For Fast Release

Whitney Houston
Whitney Houston's last on-screen performance, 'Sparkle', is in the editing phase and and TMZ reported that Sony Studios is trying to make sure that nothing gets leaked.. The movie may also be getting an earlier release date than August 17, 2012 and reports are surfacing that they may release it as early as May 2012.
This was supposed to be a part of Whitney's big comeback along with making an album, which was also being worked on by the singer. Whitney is getting rave reviews of her performance from other costars of the movie. Jordin Sparks talked about working with Whitney this past week at the Essence Luncheon:
'The first day she got [to the set] she’s scolding me, and I’m thinking, this is the best day ever,” she said of their time on Sparkle. “She went from being this unreachable supernova pop star to my costar, friend and someone who was like a mentor to me. It was a gift and an honor to play opposite Whitney Houston in the film.”
Co-Star Derek Luke reflected on Whitney Houston's performance in 'Sparkle' at the Independent Spirit Awards:
"The beautiful thing about being in 'Sparkle' is that we had something that was recorded that I can hold onto, and in that time, me and my wife and Whitney … the other cast, we really bonded," he shared. "Whitney did an amazing job, so I can't wait for people to see it and there's no great way to go out, but what a performance she had."
'Sparkle' was set to originally begin filming in 2001 with Aaliyah starring in the movie but the singer's untimely death put a hold on to production of the movie at the time. In an interview with The Insider back in November 2011, Whitney said:
About Aaliyah: 'God has his own time…and I have to put it in that perspective". She continued, "Aaliyah was absolutely perfect..and we were gonna do this thing…and then {it} just happened". " Very sad and very memorable moment for me." "I remember crying fiercely and profusely".
She went on to say that it plagued her for 10 years and she knew when the time was right, it would come back together. She said American Idol alum Jordin Sparks was 'perfect'.
The movie loosely based on the singing group 'The Supreme's. Some have even said that Whitney's performance was so good that she could get an Oscar nod!
