Barack Obama Forbes Most Powerful

 

President Barack Obama once again tops Forbes Most Powerful List for the second year in a row.  Forbes stated that O won the popular vote, an electoral college majority, and seven of the seven swing-states in November 2012 election.  They asserted that Mr. Obama faced many challenges such as stubborn, high unemployment, a budget crisis, and renewed strife in the Middle East.  Nonetheless, they noted "Obama remains the commander-and-chief of the world's greatest military and sole economic and cultural superpower."

 

Forbes used four points to determine their list: financial resources that are controlled, power over many people, whether the person has power in various spheres of life, and if that power is used.  Others  who topped the list are Mayor Bloomer, Bill Gates, and Mark Zuckerburg.

Felicia Garcia Jumps In Front of a Train Due to Bullying

In yet another disturbing trend, a young teen, Felicia Garcia, jumped in front of a train to her death.  The beautiful 15-year-old  committed suicide after she was teased and taunted about a reported sex tape she made with some members of the Tottenville Football Team.  NYPost reports that Garcia had finishing watching a game between Tottenville and Porter Richmond High School Friday night. 

 

After the game a wild after-party ensued which she had sex with some members of the team and the acts were taped.  By Monday, word of the tape spread and had been see amongst some people at the school and people began to ridicule and taunt her about the sex acts saying the some members of the team ran a train on her.  Police are currently investigating and speaking with members of the team and those involved in the tape.  A vigil has been held in her honor.

Woman Dies After Llama Runs Into Her

 

An Ohio woman, Florence Lenahan, was hit by her pet llama as he was trying to greet her.  The woman called 911 after her llama slipped on wet grass coming to greet her, which caused her to fall and hit her head on concrete.  They don't think the llama meant any harm to the woman.  The 74-year-old woman had a heart attack on in the ambulance on the way to the hospital where she subsequently pass away.

Something bigger than Barack Obama may be standing in Romney's way of grabbing the presidency: MITT ROMNEY!  In what was meant to probably never get out, secret video has been leaked by an anonymous source which has Mitt saying that 47% of Barack supporters are "dependent on the government" and feel they are victims and its the government's responsibility to take care of them.  He further added that the supporters feel they are entitled to healthcare, food, and housing.  He goes on to infer that it is not his job to "worry about them" and he would never convince them to "take responsibility and care for their lives."  He said this to a closed door gathering to 30 "major donors".  He went on to joke that he would probably be ahead in the polls if his father had been "ethnically Mexican" instead of being born to white parents living in Mexico.  

 

Mitt Romney: Open Mouth Insert Foot

Mitt Romney jokes about this and in turn goes out and wants to try to "court" the Latino vote.  Obama's campaign says the video shows that Mitt is not focused on the majority of Americans.  Mitt's campaign released a stamen saying:

"Mitt Romney wants to help all Americans struggling in the Obama economy. As the governor has made clear all year, he is concerned about the growing number of people who are dependent on the federal government, including the record number of people who are on food stamps, nearly one in six Americans in poverty, and the 23 million Americans who are struggling to find work," Romney spokesperson Gail Gitcho said in a statement. "Mitt Romney's plan creates 12 million new jobs in four years, grows the economy and moves Americans off of government dependency and into jobs."

This is yet another problem for Mitt as he has already been accused of being out of touch with most Americans and some have said he doesn't care about the poor.

Lena Henderson and Roland Davis, an 85-year-old New York, couple will get married again on Saturday, after a divorce more than a half-century ago.  The couple got married when they were teenagers and had four kids together.  After more than 20 year of marriage, they got a divorce.  The first time the pair married they got married at a justice of the peace and had no wedding or honeymoon.  This time,though, a church wedding is planned.  Both got remarried after divorcing and are now widowed.  The children of the couple are estatic.

A new documentary has surfaced that sugggests that detainees at Guantanomo Bay may have tortured using Big Bird and the gang from Sesame Street.  The doc was released by Al Jazeera entitled "Songs of War" and it suggests that detainess at U.S. Naval Base have been forced to wear headphones with Sesame Street Music playing repeatedly for hours and hours, or even days to break the will of the detainee.

 

Award-winning Sesame Street composer Christopher Cerf tells Al Jazeera, "My first reaction was this just can't possibly be true … "

Cerf says, "Of course I didn't really like the idea that I was helping break down prisoners, but it was much worse when I heard later that they were actually using the music in Guantanamo to do deep, long-term interrogations and obviously to inflict enough pain on prisoners so they would talk."

Diamond Dog Food Sickening People With Salmonella In At Least Nine States

 

 

 

 

Fourteen people, in as many as nine states, have become ill after coming in contact with dog food contaminated with salmonella.   Federal officials said Friday, the contaminated dog food was produced by Diamond Dog Foods Gaston, South Carolina plant.   In 2005, the same plant in question, produced food infected by toxic mold (aflatoxin) that caused the deaths of dogs only a few years ago. The Food and Drug Administration concluded the deadly fungus likely got into the the plant when it failed to test 12 shipments of corn.  The company offered settlement of $3.1 million dollars.  In the current issue, so far, at least five people have been hospitalized due to the dog food, according to The Federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.  According to the Meta, Missouri based company, no pets have been affected.

 

Lola Russell, a spokesperson for the CDC, said "People who became ill, the thing that was common among them was that they had fed their pets Diamond Pet Foods."  The CDC said the following state have been infected:

Connecticut-1

North Carolina- 3

Russell said, " Our folks are really wanting people to be aware of it.  They want people to be aware that this is causing people to get sick because they may have product in their homes.  For every one that is reported there may be 29 others."  Health officials said, people can get salmonella if they handle contaminated dog food and don't wash their hands before handling their own food. The plant in South Carolina was temporarily shut down April 8th.  Diamond Pet Foods has announced four rounds of recalls, the latest recalls came Friday for et food made at the plant during December 9, 2011 and April 7,2012.

 

The recalls included several brands of pet food made at the South Carolina plant, including Taste of the Wild, 4Health, Professional, Premium Edge, Diamond Naturals, Country Value, Diamond, Chicken Soup for the Pet Lover's Soul, Apex, Kirkland, Natural Balance, and Canidae. The company said in a written statement issued Friday, "We took corrective actions at the plant, and today it is up and running.  Our mission is to produce safe pet foods for our customers and their pets in all Diamond facilities."
